After the long and grueling sessions for 'Saints & Sinners Serenade' were completed, Jeff felt he needed to get back to his roots and start fresh. Starting the the winter of 1998, basic tracks were started for 'King Of The Dogs' ( a nickname that was given to Jeff in high school ). While the sessions didn't focus on a particular style of music, Jeff continued writing whatever he felt at the time - no matter what came out. He included the old "Napalm Blue" song "Desperate Conviction" that had never been recorded or released before. At this time, Jeff had also joined another cover band, "Morning Wood" with Dave Caro on Guitars & Mike Randolph on Drums. He had also expanded Time Piece Music into a production and talent booking company to help his current band get bigger gigs in Western Oregon. Just as the band started to get successful, Dave left the band to move to Las Vegas. The first single "Just Another Country Song", was a novelty song that poked fun at country music. It received a good response from radio stations and helped sales for the record when it was released in July of 1999. Jeff & his family then decided to move back to Eastern Oregon in September. Former bandmate & friend Ron "Honest Abe" Abram was a popular DJ in the area at the time and helped make "Fatal Reaction" a nice hit for Jeff as well.
